Beverly Speed is outa control ... compare her images from
earlier in the week (bottom of the page) with what she is getting
now! Very great impovement ... THAT'S what Photo Week is all
about! |
Bev Speed is at it again. With 6 hours of bottom time
yesterday ...
Pipefish
... notice how the detail stands out with a black background. |
A
file fish in soft coral. To the naked eye this fish is very
bland and blends extremely well with the soft coral! |
Harlequin
Ghost Pipefish |
Look
closely at whip coral - there are always fish and shrimps living on
it! |
Christmas
Tree Worm ... again, notice the detail you get with the dark
background. |
Clown
Frog Fish |

Vickie Coker got lucky with a sleepy leaf fish! She caught him yawning.
She also took advantage of the long arms on her housing and was able to
backlight the leaf fish.
| Amy Horowitz is rocking the Casbah ... with her D70
Digital Camera! Well, it's not hers yet ... it's a loaner ...
just one of the great benefits of Photo Week. |
Way
to go, Amy!!
This is a fabulous turtle shot. |
The
eels here are on a very strange dental plan! |

A Mantis Shrimp ...
|
What
a poser ... frog fish love to have their photo taken! |
This
is the Picachu Nudibranch! |
Lion
Fish are quite abundant here! In the evenings it's easy to
catch them feeding in your dive lights!! |
Sail
Fin Goby ... oh, yeah ... |
Beverly Speed is at it again!!
Actually, I have offered to just put a bed in the dive shop for her
since that seems to be where she is spending all of her time! |
When
you look closely at anemones you will find all sorts of critters
living in them!! |
Sipadan
is famous for many things ... including huge schools of fish. |

Donna Graham and Glenda Pruner really know how to rub it in to their friends
back home!!
 |
 |
Michael Gerber isn't having any trouble finding subjects
to shoot! These are some of his first images at Sipadan Water
Village. Note the spectacular sunset ... the sunrises are just as
beautiful!! |
 |
 |
This
is a juvenile Parrot Fish (believe it or not!!). This little guy (about 1
1/2 inches long) was found on Sipadan where we had plenty of other great
photo ops!! There must have been 100 turtles ... honest! They were
everywhere! The schools of bat fish were very friendly and curious.
Oh - and did I mention the hammerhead?! Yes - we have white tips and a
hammerhead. There is always a nice assortment of reef fish around Sipadan.
But, the first dive or two that you do on Sipadan - you are so overwhelmed by
the numbers of turtles that it's hard to actually see anything else!
Photographer - Chris Parsons

This turtle came from Sipadan Island - Of course!! |
Rick Scott got
these images from the first dive
day. Rick is a veteran diver at Sipadan Water Village ... this
is his 6th trip to the Water Village!! Yes - count 'em ... 6
times!! Hey - when it's THAT good, you just can't get enough!! |

There are several kinds of shrimps that you will find in Bubble
Coral ... just get close and keep looking! |

Orang Utan Crab on Bubble Coral |

One of the many, many clown fish in an anemone! |

The nudibranchs are beautiful and plentiful. |
The
anemones are tricky - but Bev's patience paid off with a nice shot! |
Beverly Speed was the lucky
one who found the Blue Ring Octopus today!!The rest of us are VERY
jealous! |
The
gobies are a highlight of Sipadan Water Village ... so many gobies,
so little time!! |
This
is one of the most beautiful of the nudibranchs! It's easy to
shoot here because there are so many of them!! |
 |
This
is what you call "up close and personal". A white tip shark
shows off his pearly whites. |
